YOUTH PLAN:  Non-profit organization, established in 1991

A creative group for the development of young people's audiovisual
communication and expression.

Aware of the Greek, European and international situation in the field of cinema for children and young people, we initially created a Festival -the only one of its kind in Greece -with a special artistic profile, philosophy and educational dimension. We set high - but realistic and viable-  specific goals.

The Youth Plan is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Culture, the Prefecture of Ilia and the Local Union of Municipalities of Ilia.

It is also supported by the General Secretariat for Youth, the Greek Film Centre, ERT S.A. (Greek State  Radio and Television) and the municipalities in which all events are being held.

The Festival is directed by a 3-member Committee with Dimitris Spyrou, Nikos Theodosiou and Christos Kostantopoulos as its permanent members.

Within these five years of operation, we also organized film retrospectives, international congresses, educational programs, the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People and the European Meeting of Audiovisual Creation for Children and Young People -CAMERA ZIZANIO, art exhibitions and poster displays. In 2001, we created the Film Archives for children and young people, comprising highly awarded films at international film festivals. We also implemented the project "The Olympia Festival meets children and young people," during which we met youngsters from many provincial towns, as well as ethnic Greek children living in Germany, and young people in earthquake-hit areas of Athens, for whom we screened films and organized conferences.

The Festival's staff attends all major international conferences and festivals.

Through the publication of books, as well as magazines and newspaper articles, and with numerous projects, we have promoted Greek cinema for children and young people, which had been sidelined prior to the creation of the Olympia Festival.
