International Meeting of University Theatre

The
1st International Meeting of University Theatre in Ancient
Olympia took place from August 19 to 25, 2001, in Ancient Olympia.
-
University companies from Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium,
Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria participated.
-
An international conference was held on the topic: Ancient Myths in
Modern Theatre, with lectures given by Greek and foreign professors,
prominent theatre personalities and directors.
-
Three theatre workshops were held, attended by theatre professionals and
members of amateur theatre groups, mainly from towns in the Peloponnese.
-
An illustrated lecture was given by Eberhard Scheiffele, in which the
story of psychodrama was presented.
-
There was also a concert featuring songs composed by Manos Hatzidakis and
Mikis Theodorakis for the theatre, and a performance of shadow theatre.
