A boy who lives in a reform school can not believe his mother is dead. He has created a fictional image of her around a press clipping and plans to find her. When a new social worker comes to the reform school, the boy believes that she is his mother. Unwillingly, she lets him stay at her home, intending to take him back to the school the next day. However, when the boy discovers that they plan to send him back, he runs away once again.
