"The Canary-Yellow Bicycle" by Dimitris Stavrakas

As soon as Aris Sioutis is appointed teacher of the 8th grade at an elementary school in Athens, he discovers that one of his students, Lefteris Mouratidis, is almost illiterate and shunned by the rest of his class.

Determined to help the child out of the impasse, he has to deal with many obstacles: Lefteris' mistrust, his colleagues' pessimism, the refusal of Lefteris' parents, the classmates' hostile behavior to Lefteris.

However, his determination and persistence will help him overcome the problems. In the most decisive moment, when Lefteris is ready to drop out, his teacher finds a way to encourage him and raise his spirits. As in real life, the film - based on a true story - does not end in "acclaim". It simply restores faith in human relations and the power of the will.
